About
The darkest and most massive album of this era, The Way of All Flesh fixes its gaze on death, not as a morbid end, but as “everything we go through until it”, in Joe Duplantier’s words. Buddhist spirituality surfaces (“The Art of Dying” and the idea of rebirth), and so does ecological urgency. Musically it’s a monolith: technical death metal, progressive structures, a dense and demanding production. “Oroborus” opens the record like a tidal wave, and Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) lends his voice to “Adoration for None”. As punishing as it is spellbinding, the album cements the band’s stature on both sides of the Atlantic.
