After the introspection of Magma, Fortitude looks outward, and forward. The watchword: quiet strength, resilience, hope. Ecological commitment is central, carried by “Amazonia”, a song of anger and solidarity in the face of the Amazon wildfires, released alongside a fundraising campaign. Musically, the band widens its palette: more direct choruses, almost-seventies rock colors, airy arrangements, without giving up the heaviness. From “Born for One Thing” to “The Chant”, it’s a defiant, luminous record, named album of the year by Metal Hammer and Revolver, number one on the US rock charts. The crowning achievement, just before the Olympics.
